Denver is known as the Mile High City. The elevation is 5,280 feet (1,609 meters) above sea level. Pikes Peak is 14,110 feet (4,301 meters). The Heart of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park tours will travel above 11,000 feet (3,353 meters). Although the tours are not strenuous, please consider your health and physical fitness when making plans.

Autumn in Denver can be bright and sunny with normal temperatures ranging from 45-75F (7-24C), but the possibility of a heavy snow storm always exists. Colorado also experiences high diurnal variations. Evenings can be chilly. Colorado usually has very low humidity (as low as 10%). Dehydration can exaggerate altitudinal effects. UV radiation can also be more intense than at sea level. In the mountains, travelers should prepare for cold winds and possible snow.
